A very scarce limited edition Cambridge Christmas book, containing an excerpt from Dr John Trusler's 'The Honours of the Table'. The second Christmas Book issued by Cambridge University Press.Limited to 100 copies. Very scarce.In the original quarter cloth binding, with marbled paper covered boards.A charming treatise on the practise of carving, excerpted from 'The Honours of the Table' by Dr. John Trusler and reprinted here by Walter Lewis. With a biographical note by Stanley Morison and an appreciation by Sydney Castle Roberts.From 1930 to 1973, Cambridge University Press produced a slim, limited edition volume for Christmas. In most cases, only some 100 copies were made of a single title, and all of them were given away to "friends in printing and publishing." In the original quarter cloth binding, with marbled paper covered boards.Externally, very smart indeed, with minor shelf wear and fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound.
