Print on Demand. This book presents the detailed account of a fact-finding mission dispatched by the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1904 to assess the state of their missionary operations in South America. Tasked with inspecting churches, schools, and other mission projects across the continent, the author traveled extensively, visiting sites in present-day Panama, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil. Not simply a historical record, the book also delves deeply into the author’s consideration of the interconnectedness between religious instruction and the advancement of morality and civilization. Traveling by steamship, train, horseback, and even stagecoach, the author’s journey chronicles the challenges of navigating both the diverse landscapes of South America and the complex religious and social dynamics of the era. It provides a fascinating glimpse into the social and religious realities of the continent during the early 20th century and the efforts of the Methodist Episcopal Church to spread their faith amidst the changing landscape of South American society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
