Arias for Soprano from the respected G. Schirmer Opera Anthology series is a comprehensive vocal collection of essential operatic repertoire for soprano voice with piano accompaniment. Carefully edited by Robert L. Larsen, this volume brings together celebrated arias from the core opera literature, offering singers a reliable study and performance resource drawn from works by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Bizet, Gounod, Handel, and many other major composers. The collection has long been valued by voice teachers, students, and professional singers as a practical anthology that supports the lifelong study of classical vocal technique and operatic interpretation.
The book presents 31 soprano arias in clear vocal and piano notation across more than two hundred pages. Each piece includes a carefully prepared piano reduction designed to reflect the character of the orchestral score while remaining practical for rehearsal and studio work. In addition to the musical scores, the anthology includes historical notes, plot summaries, and translations that help singers understand dramatic context and textual meaning while studying the music.
