Print on Demand. This book is a comprehensive analysis of a religious controversy that has deeply affected the Society of Friends, also known as Quakers. The dispute centers on three fundamental doctrines: the divinity of Jesus Christ, the atonement, and the divine inspiration and inerrancy of the Holy Scriptures. The author examines the historical context of the controversy, tracing its origins to the early days of the Quaker movement. The book delves into the theological arguments presented by both sides, exploring the nuances of their beliefs and the impact of these doctrines on Quaker identity and practice. The author also considers the broader implications of the controversy for the understanding of Christianity and the nature of religious authority. Ultimately, this book offers a valuable contribution to the study of Quaker history and theology, providing a deeper understanding of the beliefs and practices that have shaped this religious community. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Many years ago a subscription was got up, within the precincts of'the Preparative Meeting of the Society of Friends, at Crosswicks, in the state of New Jersey, for the purpose of raising a fund, to establish a school for the education of the children of the indigent members of that meeting. Members subscribed, and a fund was raised, and placed under the control and direction of the prepar ative meeting, which appointed a treasurer to take charge of the school fund.
The plan originated in the Yearly Meeting of Phila delphia, to which this meeting at Crosswicks was attach ed, and under their auspices similar funds, for the like purposes, were raised in other preparative meetings be longing to their jurisdiction.
