Stephen McCanse of McCanse Art is a professional fine art dealer, appraiser, and advisor specializing in 19th and 20th-century Canadian paintings, prints, drawings, and books. I have operated three galleries, two in Toronto and one at the Cotton Factory in Hamilton, ON. From 2013 to 2017 I was co-owner of the Hamilton-based auction house Whitehalls Auctioneers & Appraisers Inc. During my career as an art dealer and advisor, I have bought, sold, and brokered the sale of many significant works of Canadian art, including paintings and prints by Paul Peel, A.J. Casson, A.Y. Jackson, Lawren Harris, Maurice Cullen, David Milne, and Jean Paul Riopelle.

Today, McCanse Art focuses on rare and hard-to-find single monograph books, exhibition and gallery catalogues, posters, art ephemera, and original prints from noted Canadian and American artists from the 1920s through to the 70s.
