Print on Demand. This book investigates the diagnosis of enteric or typhoid fever, a serious infection caused by salmonella. The author discusses practical laboratory methods for isolating the bacteria that cause the disease, namely B. typhosus, B. paratyphosus A, and B. paratyphosus B. The identification of these bacteria is essential for effective treatment and to prevent the spread of infection. The text goes on to explore serological methods for identifying antibodies against these bacteria in a patient's serum, known as the Widal reaction. By examining the patient's serum over time, this reaction can provide valuable insights into the progression of the infection and the effectiveness of treatment. Accurately diagnosing typhoid fever is critical for managing the disease in individual patients and for controlling outbreaks within communities. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the techniques used in diagnosis, making it a valuable resource for laboratory professionals and clinicians alike. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
