This book explores the potential of the metaverse to transform education. The authors connect rigorous theory with practical applications to provide educators, researchers, and policymakers with useful insights to design and implement immersive learning experiences.
Based on contemporary educational learning theories such as constructivism, connectivism, and situated learning, the reader learns the appropriate strategies to create suitable instructional designs for different virtual learning environments. The authors cover topics about teaching methods like gamification, immersive learning, and collaborative learning within the metaverse. Such an emphasis allows the reader to consider a variety of innovative teaching strategies and approaches for metaverse environments to better enhance student engagement and improve learning experiences. In this book, the reader learns about the frameworks to create immersive learning experiences and collaborative learning paths that address varying student needs and engagement levels. It also offers assessment methods and comprehensive resources that provide practical instructions for virtual environments, supporting the reader’s professional development by increasing their technological competencies. These methods and tools for assessing learning environments, social interactions, and learning outcomes within the metaverse offer a foundation for evaluation in metaverse learning settings. Drawing from research and real-world implementations, the book presents detailed case studies of metaverse education projects. These case studies offer insights into best practices, challenges faced, and lessons learned, serving as practical references for implementation.
This book is a valuable resource for educators, researchers, policymakers, and educational technology professionals. The encompassing nature of the book allows for a comprehensive study by all in the education practice as they progress to understand the metaverse technologies in education.
