Hardcover. A collection of 11 humorous short stories, all narrated by Mr Peter Trumper. Trumper is the unwitting butt of all the jokes, though he never realizes it, believing the whole time that he is witty, clever and universally popular. A short preface by his employer gives a more honest appraisal of his flaws, although here too the tone is ironic. As the Publisher's blurb states: "In this collection of wry, sharply observed tales, Trumper holds forth on everything from literature to trousers, always certain, seldom correct, and never knowingly brief . With wit that skewers pretension and celebrates the glory of getting it gloriously wrong, The Applause Was Edited Out is a hilarious portrait of a man forever out of his depth, and happily unaware of it. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
