Decorated cloth with a red top stain. Bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Moderate shelf handling wear. First Edition, Early Printing; 303 pages. Illustrated with plates by Thomas Benton. The book won the 1943 Thomas Jefferson Award. Dust jacket with price has wear on all edges and is now protected in a new clear Mylar sleeve. Teenage Sid Tussie sees big changes in his poor Kentucky family when they receive $10,000 insurance money for the death of his uncle in World War II and other greedy relatives scramble to share the wealth. Very Good in a Fair Dust Jacket.
