About this Item
xxv, 414, [8] pages. Foreword by D.P. Williams, President, on behalf of the General Church. Contents: Part I. Constitution for the British Isles; Part II. Guiding Principles; Part III. Overseas Constitution. This copy with ownership signature F. Warburton to front free endpaper, and numerous clerical emendations in pencil throughout. Quite likely Rev. Frank Warburton: "After working and pioneering in Northern Ireland, Pastor Evan Jones became a member of the first of two International Evangelistic Bands which were formed in 1931. His associates in the band were Pastors John Hewitt and Frank Warburton. These bands travelled the length and breadth of the UK, undertaking four to six week revival campaigns where signs and wonders followed the preaching of the Gospel." [Pastor Marcus Thomas, in Pioneers Remembered: Our First Century]. In the Montreal Gazette for 12 December 1949 Rev. Warburton (then of Peterborough, Ontario) is noted as having attended the dedication service of the Apostolic Church at Gordon Avenue, Verdun, Quebec. Light soil to cloth; titles on spine and front muted; recent small name/address label next to Warburton signature; binding is sound. An uncommon volume, all the more interesting for the emendations.
