Upright ornament panel with a candelabrum structure with two satyrs holding torches; and grotesque dragons, winged horses, and dolphins.Monogrammed at the bottom: D H.; numbered at the bottom left: 7.This work has to be included among various panels etched by Opfer and intended to decorate weapons. In the course of the seventeenth century a remote relative of Hopfer, David Funck (1642-1705), book seller and printer in Nurnberg, acquired the numerous plates by Hopfer and republished them in a work titled Operae Hopferianae, adding a number to the plates and thus determining a second state of the plates.[NL] Opstaand ornamentpaneel met een kandelaberstructuur met twee saters die fakkels vasthouden en groteske draken, gevleugelde paarden en dolfijnen. Etching on paper with some margins; total: 357 x 134 mm; state II/2; some dirt and smudges, some foxing; overall in fair condition; Hollstein 108, Bartsch VIII.497.97.…
