Travel – what was a matter of course until recently and was absolutely part of it, was suddenly so far away since spring 2020. Therefore, 25 German-language authors set out - and we can travel with them. Whether reminded travel, fantasy trips, time travel or travel through your own room - these are very special postcards that we receive from them, stimulating, happy, brushed against the line, liberating ones. We travel with world atlas and magnifying glass, walking through border areas and sometimes walls. Or just lose us at home.

So Lutz Seiler signs in his narrative "Exit" the attempt of family reunion in high Corona times. News about checkpoints and foiled "border breakthroughs" inevitably awaken memories in the author, but in terms of chaos and disaster competence, the East German is trained. And so the author lubricates five double sleeves and sets out on the journey to Sweden.
Terézia Mora, 2018 Book Prize winner, has authored a poetic directions that begins at the last house of a place in Austria and aims at a small, white house in Hungary. A journey through border areas, across a state border, once literally through a wall. A shimmering tension lies above everything, though it passes through a familiar landscape, past yarrow, butterflies, fossilized snails.
Christoph Peters describes in "plastic canisters" a journey through the Egyptian province, along visible and invisible borders. Soldiers with machine guns line the path, water buffalo, wrecks and desert sand, now and then the outlines of pyramids on the horizon. Three people in the car: the driver, the translator and a German scientist. As different as the three occupants may be, one question concerns them all: the tank needle continues to sink, but nowhere is there petrol - will they make it to Cairo?
These and a selection of over twenty other stories performed at the ARD Radio Festival 2020 take us all over the world from the sofa.
