Some toning to text, light soiling to title page. $150. * A collection of 38 acts passed in the fourth session of the ninth Parliament of Great Britain, with tables of the public acts and 29 private acts. One of the public acts, the Discovery of North-West Passage Act 1744 (c. 17), offered ?20,000 as a reward for the discovery of a northwest passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Despite many attempts, including the famous Franklin and McClure expeditions, the Northwest Passage would not be fully traversed by ship until the twentieth century (although McClure managed to travel through it by boat and sledge).
