Print on Demand. This book takes the reader into the world of midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy at the turn of the twentieth century. It follows the stories of three young men as they navigate the demanding academic, physical, and social challenges of preparing to become naval officers. Through these characters and their experiences, the author explores the themes of friendship, loyalty, honor, and the sacrifices and triumphs of a life dedicated to serving one's country. The insights into the processes and development of officers who lead the United States Navy during the following decades, including World War I and World War II, make this a significant read for anyone interested in military history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

Stonewell and Robert Drake by name never existed, but the same thoughts and ambitions that animate them have animated many hun dreds of midshipmen; and incidents similar to those described have happened countless times. From this point of View these stories are true stories. The names of their chief characters may be found in no navy list, but the truth of the Annapolis books does not de pend upon that. Stonewell and Robert Drake have actually lived many times, and to-day are living at Annapolis.
