In 2005, Kristen Bowers, a high school English teacher in California, became frustrated and tired of writing her own worksheets, quizzes, tests, and activities to teach her students the required literature and the content standards on which her students were being tested at the district and state levels. At the time, resources and tools that were available for purchase were not up to her high standards of teaching, so she decided to create these materials herself.
