nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The Anchor of Reality is a poetry collection for anyone who has loved someone with addiction-and lost themselves in the process. Through intimate, emotionally grounded poems and accompanying black-and-white illustrations, Annie Hope traces the slow unraveling of a relationship built on devotion, denial, and the desperate belief that love can rescue someone struggling with addiction.Moving through the stages many know too well-hope, excuses, bargaining, silence, chaos, and private grief-these poems capture the aching contradiction of loving an addict while realizing that love, loyalty, and sacrifice are not enough to save them. What begins as a desire to hold the relationship together becomes an honest reckoning with the emotional cost of staying. With lyrical clarity and sharp emotional truth, The Anchor of Reality explores trauma bonding, emotional abandonment, and the quiet ways a person can be eroded by constant caretaking in a relationship with someone battling addiction. But this is not a book that ends in bitterness. At its core, it is a story of reclaiming power-choosing truth over fantasy, self-respect over self-erasure, and acceptance over chasing the version of someone you loved.Raw, beautifully composed, and deeply relatable, this collection is a companion for readers navigating heartbreak, healing, and the complicated grief of loving someone you cannot save from addiction.…

Some relationships don't end with a fight. They end with you realizing you've been disappearing for years.
The Anchor of Reality is a poetry collection for anyone who has loved someone with addiction — and lost themselves in the process. Written over four years as a private record of an experience too painful to say out loud, these poems were never meant to be a book. They were survival.
Moving through the stages many know too well — the hope, the excuses, the bargaining, the silence, the chaos, and the private grief — this collection captures the aching contradiction of loving an addict while slowly realizing that love, loyalty, and sacrifice are not enough to save them.
With original black-and-white illustrations and lyrical emotional truth, The Anchor of Reality explores trauma bonding, emotional abandonment, and the quiet erosion of loving someone who is battling addiction. But this is not a book that ends in bitterness. It is a story of reclaiming yourself — choosing truth over fantasy, self-respect over self-erasure.
For anyone who has loved an addict. For anyone who stayed too long. For anyone still finding their way back to themselves.
