Print on Demand. This book is a comprehensive catalogue of the Parliamentary Library of Queensland, Australia. It presents a catalog of over 15,000 books in the collection at the time of preparation, from 1880 to 1883. It includes an alphabetized index of authors, an index of titles, an index of subjects, and a partial index of forms. A key feature of the book is its comprehensive nature, which makes it a valuable resource for researchers seeking information on a wide range of topics. The book is also significant for its insights into the development of library cataloging practices in the 19th century, and for providing a snapshot of the intellectual landscape of Queensland during that period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

- Modern History of UK and Ireland
Eight years ago, in a Report which was laid before Parliament, I pointed out amongst other things the great practical utility which would result from classifying the books in the Library, and cataloguing them on some of the latest and best approved systems. The former of these undertakings (both of which were authorised in due course) filled up the two recesses which followed; and since its completion I have been busily engaged with the latter.
Of the importance of a good catalogue there can be no doubt. There is no matter, says an authority on this subject, connected with the administration of a public library, which can vie in point of importance with the character and condition of its catalogue. But, of the difficulties which surround its construction, no one but those taught by actual experience can have any conception It is with catalogues, says Professor Robinson, the librarian of one of the American universities, as with classi fying; the objections to any plan are so numerous and so forcible that nothing but an imperative demand will induce one to undertake it at all.
