Add to basketThis textbook is a consolidation of learning methods which comes in an analytic form. The covered learning methods include classical and advanced solutions to problems of regression, minimum classification error, maximum receiver operating characteristics, bridge regression, ensemble learning and network learning. Both the primal and dual solution forms are discussed for over-and under-determined systems. Such coverage provides an important perspective for handling systems with overwhelming samples or systems with overwhelming parameters. For goal driven classification, the solutions to minimum classification-error, maximum receiver operating characteristics, bridge regression, and ensemble learning represent recent advancements in the literature. In this book, the exercises offer instructors and students practical experience with real-world applications.
Kar-Ann Toh is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yonsei University, South Korea. He received the PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore in 1999. Since then, he worked for two years in the aerospace industry prior to his postdoctoral appointments at research centers in NTU from 1998 to 2002. He was affiliated with the Institute for Infocomm Research in Singapore from 2002 to 2005 prior to his current appointment in Korea. During his sabbatical year in 2020, he worked with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (ECE-NUS) as a Visiting Professor. His research interests include pattern classification, machine learning, neural networks and biometrics. He is serving/has served as an Associate Editor of several international journals including IEEE Transactions on Biometrics, Behavior and Identity Science, IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, Journal of Franklin Institute, Pattern Recognition Letters, and IET Biometrics.
Huiping Zhuang is an Associate Professor in Shien -Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering, South China University of Technology. He received the B.S. degree and M.Eng. degree from South China University of Technology, China, in 2014 and 2017, respectively. He obtained the Ph.D. degree with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2021. He has published over 35 papers, including those in ICML, NeurIPS, CVPR, AAAI, IEEE Trans NNLS, IEEE Trans SMC-S, IEEE Trans CSVT, IEEE Trans MM, etc. He has tought several undergraduate and graduate courses including artificial intelligence course design, deep learning, and human-computer interaction.
Simon Liu is a seasoned professional in the fields of data science and risk management, currently serving as Senior Vice President and Head of Data Science for payments at Lazada. Besides his role at Lazada, he serves as a part-time lecturer at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where he teaches AI and machine learning in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Before joining Lazada, he enjoyed a successful career at Scotiabank in Canada, advancing through various data science positions and ultimately serving as Director in AML Modelling and Analytics. Dr. Liu is deeply involved in the academic community, driven by a passion for mentoring and nurturing the next generation of talent. He collaborated with the University of Toronto to organize and lead the Big Data & AI Case Competition from 2020 to 2022, where he served as the head judge. Dr. Liu has also provided guidance as an industry advisor to several Master's and Ph.D. students in Canada and is currently advising a Ph.D. student from NTU as part of the collaborative Alibaba-NTU program. Dr. Liu holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto. He also earned two Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as two Master's degrees in the same fields, all from the University of Toronto.
Zhiping Lin received B.Eng degree in control and automation from South China Institute of Technology, Guangzhou, China, Ph.D. degree in information engineering from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 1987. Since 1999, he has been an associate professor at the School of EEE, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, where he is now serving as Programme Director of Master of Sciences Programme in Signal Processing and Machine Learning, the School of EEE, NTU. Prior to that, he worked at DSO National Labs, Singapore and Shantou University, China. Dr. Lin was the Editor-in-Chief of Multidimensional Systems and Signal Processing from 2011 to 2015, and a subject editor of the Journal of the Franklin Institute from 2015 to 2019. He also served as an associate editor for several other international journals, including IEEE Trans. on Circuits and Systems II. He was the coauthor of the 2007 Young Author Best Paper Award from the IEEE Signal Processing Society, and a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society during 2007-2008. His research interests include multidimensional systems, statistical signal processing and image/video processing, robotics and machine learning. Since joining NTU in 1999, he has taught 10 courses related to signal processing and pattern recognition, mostly at the graduate level.

on which you or a third party nominated by you, which is not the carrier, had taken possession of the last product, provided you had ordered several products within the scope of a standard order and these products are delivered separately;
on which you or a third party nominated by you, which is not the carrier, had taken possession of the last part delivery or the last unit, provided you had ordered a product, which is delivered in several part deliveries or units;
In order to exercise your revocation right, you must inform us (Moluna GmbH, Münsterstr. 105, 48268 Greven, Telephone number: 02571/5 69 89 33, Fax number: 02571/5 69 89 30, E-Mail address: abe@moluna.de) of your decision to revoke this contract by means of a clear declaration (e.g. a letter sent via post, fax or email). You can use the enclosed specimen revocation form for this, which however is not mandatory.

Criteria for exclusion or expiry
The revocation right is not available for contracts
for delivery of products, which are not prefabricated and for whose manufacturing an individual selection or stipulation by the consumer is important or which are clearly tailored to the personal requirements of the consumer;
for delivery of products, which can spoil quickly or whose use-by date would be exceeded quickly;
for delivery of alcoholic drinks, whose price was agreed at the time of concluding the contract, which however can be delivered 30 days after the conclusion of the contract at the earliest and whose current value depends on the fluctuations in the market, on which the entrepreneur has no influence;
