For courses in Real Analysis, Advanced Calculus, and Transition to Advanced Mathematics or Proofs course.
Carefully focused on reading and writing proofs, this introduction to the analysis of functions of a single real variable helps students in the transition from computationally oriented courses to abstract mathematics by its emphasis on proofs. Student oriented and instructor friendly, it features clear expositions and examples, helpful practice problems, many drawings that illustrate key ideas, and hints/answers for selected exercises.
"Let me begin by saying that I really like this book, and I do not say that of very many books. What impresses me most is the level of motivation and explanation given for the basic logic, the construction of proofs, and the ways of thinking about proofs that this book provides in its first few sections. It felt that the author was talking to the reader the way I would like to talk to students. There was an air of familiarity there. All kinds of useful remarks were made, the type I would like to make in my lectures." ― Aimo Hinkkanen, University of Illinois at Urbana
"The writing style is suitable for our students. It is clear, logical, and concise. The examples are very helpful and well-developed. The topics are thoroughly covered and at the appropriate level for our students. The material is technically accurate, and the pedagogical material is effectively presented." ― John Konvalina, University of Nebraska at Omaha

Orders usually ship within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on standard-sized books weighing up to 4 LB, or 1.8 KG. If your book order is heavy and/or over-sized and the shipping address is OUTSIDE of The United States, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
At Mahler Books, we make no attempt to over-charge for shipping. Sometimes International buyers are surprised to discover the high cost of shipping heavy or over-sized books.
If you are located OUTSIDE of The United States, and you are ordering a heavy or over-sized book, the shipping costs are estimated to be about 42 US dollars. This is the cost of the Global Priority Flat Rate Box. I agree that this shipping cost seems excessive, but this is what the Postal Service charges me, and this is the cheapest rate I have been able to locate for large books weighing over 1.8 KG.
