Share the magical experience of catching fireflies with children in this beautiful picture book in sweet, simple verse. Accompanied by lifelike, soft photo-illustrations, this is a wonderful read-aloud for bedtime and to help children who are afraid of the dark. Amy is afraid of shadows in her bedroom, but then she notices a slight glow in her backyard. With exuberance she races outside and catches fireflies in an empty jar. She goes back to her room, only to find their lights go dim. But, to her delight, they light up again when she sets them free--and realizes that the shadows in her room were really nothing at all. This simple story is perfect for kids who are afraid of the dark, teachers and parents looking for kids books about bugs, and anyone in need of a firefly book for kids. Backmatter includes firefly facts, additional resources, and an author's note. 2011 IBPA Benjamin Franklin Gold Award 2011 Mom's Choice Gold Award 2011 IBPPG Next Generation Indie Book Award - Finalist 2010 iParenting Media Outstanding Book Award.…
