Synopsis:

Amy Simon (*1957 in New York City) employs a variety of techniques: she produces drawings and photographs, and recently, she has been making large tapestries. The photographs presented in this volume were created rather intuitively. Early one morning, on a very hot day, Simon walked into a certain apartment and sensed that the rooms contained more for her and about her than just the architecture. She captured the interiors in photographs, some of them taken from the inside looking out. The rooms became a world of their own, separate from space and time.\nBesides these photos, this book features a series of new drawings, as well as the tapestry that the New York- and Stockholm-based artist exhibited at the Venice Biennial. Essays by Daniel Birnbaum and Amy Baker Sandback illuminate what lies behind her work.
