Screens flicker, games change, videos play, but nothing truly reaches him. Then he meets Maestro Pietro, a carpenter with kind eyes and an old secret: there is a doorway from the noisy modern world into the quiet hills of southern Italy. In San Marco dei Cavoti, Tommaso discovers chestnut woods, ancient stones called the Morge, wild asparagus hidden among leaves, and a black-and-white dog named Nero who seems to know the forest by heart. He is welcomed into Pietro's home in Monte d'Oro, where Rosa and the boys, Marco and Matteo, teach him what it means to belong. As the village prepares for the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the evening Rosary, Tommaso learns that tradition is not something dusty, but something alive, made of voices, lights, music, and hands held together.Among the Magical Hills is a warm, lyrical children's story about roots, wonder, and the kind of memories that grow brighter when they are shared.
