Item description from seller

RARE report on the Dust Bowl Great Depression Migration of "Destitute Citizens" Esther Cole Franklin. America's "Migrant" Problem. Part of the "Contemporary America" series (April 1941) vol II no. VI published by the American Association of University Women, "Social Studies Series". Washington, DC, 1941. 9"x 6", 23pp (including a 5pp section on suggested reading (which includes a reference to Dorothea Lange and Paul Taylor's "American Exodus"). NO COPIES are located in WorldCat. Original wrappers slightly dusted. Provenance: Pamphlet Collection, Library of Congress (with their rubber stamp on the bottom of the front cover). Printed on a heavier stock. VG condition. [++ There is a significant amount of thinking that went into this thin publication, with Franklin clearly moving in the direction of federal and regional (and local) help and aid and care for the "migrant" folks living in a mobile world "on the edge of existence". This is a caring and thoughtful appraisal of the migration of "our destitute citizens".
