J.H Schultz & Co., Publishers and Proprietors, New York, 1855, January 13th-December 29th, 831 pp, 3/4 leather, 11.5 x 9.25”, 4to. In good condition. Nicely bound in 3/4 leather with tooled tips. Moderate wear to extremities with wear at tips to board. Scuffing to joints and raised bands. Spine ends worn with light chipping. Marbled boards are scuffed overall. Light toning and minor soiling to covers. “45” green sticker placed on fifth compartment. Possibly ex-library. Typed label placed over title label, mostly chipped away. Light scuffing overall to labels. Binder’s ticket of John Lovell of Montreal. Sir W.E. Logan plate on pastedown. Sir William Edmond Logan, FRSE FRS FGS, (1798-1875) was a Canadian-born geologist and the founder and first director of the Geological Survey of Canada. Tan staining to front gutters. Internally good with light toning and minor instances of foxing. Small hole at left edge of title. Logan has signed the March 3rd issue. All edges speckled. Binding tight and intact.
