The author of The Physics of Superheroes explains how everyday products were made possible by quantum mechanics, covering such topics as the Schrödinger equation, the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle and nanoscience. (This book is being re-listed in Forecast due to postponement.)
Author of the Physics of Superheroes, James Kakalios is the Taylor Distinguished Professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota. He has been active in experimental studies of solid state physics for over twenty years---his current research interests span a variety of physical phenomena, ranging from the nano to the neuro, and in 2007 he served as the on-set science consultant for the Warner Bros. film Watchmen. He lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
James Kakalios is a professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota, where he has taught since 1988, and where his class "Everything I Needed to Know About Physics I Learned from Reading Comic Books" is a popular freshman seminar. He received his Ph.D. in 1985 from the University of Chicago, and has been reading comic books for much longer.
