"Hilarious and subversive." —Kirkus
G is determined to go first in the alphabet, but does that mean reading will be destroyed? This witty picture book about the order of the alphabet is laugh-out-loud funny!
When G wants to be first in the alphabet song, A has a BIG problem! G can’t be first. Not today, not tomorrow, and not next week. NEVER! A tells G if they change the order of the alphabet song, no one will learn how to read, and reading will be DESTROYED!
Will reading be destroyed if G is first? G is willing to find out!
Filled with laugh-out-loud humor, Beth Bacon and Karen Kane’s witty wordplay is perfectly paired with Eric Barclay’s colorful characters. You’ll never sing the alphabet song the same way again!
Beth Bacon writes funny books for intermediate reluctant readers. She earned an MFA in writing for children from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She also has a degree in communications from NYU and a degree in literature from Harvard. She previously worked with Apple on communications and marketing, as well as in elementary school education.
Karen Kane grew up in Rochester, NY, and became a sign language interpreter before becoming a writer. A graduate of Vermont College of Fine Arts, Karen is the author of the Edgar Award-nominated book Charlie & Frog and its sequel, The Boney Hand. She now lives in Washington, DC, with her family and loves books and chocolate in equal amounts. Okay, maybe she loves books just a tiny bit more—because she could never live without books!
Eric Barclay grew up in a small Texas town, where he spent plenty of time playing outside, reading, drawing, and writing. He also enjoyed childhood summer visits to his grandfather’s ranch, which meant helping with cows and riding around in the back of a pickup. Years later, Eric hung up his overalls and graduated from a big city university, where he studied journalism and graphic design. Now he writes and illustrates books for kids, which allows him to occasionally enjoy the outdoors again. He is the author-illustrator of Sheep Dog and Sheep Sheep, Hiding Phil, I Can See Just Fine, and Counting Dogs and the illustrator of My Pet Wants a Pet by Elise Broach. He lives in Texas with his wife, two daughters, one dog, two cats, two mice, and five fish. You can visit him at www.ericbarclay.com.
