Add to basket24 p. 10 cm. Sound and square binding in olive green, cloth-covered boards, with gilt and colour-stamped illustration, decoration and titles on both boards. All edges are gilt. The cloth has a 1/2" area of lifting on upper board. The corner tips and spine ends are rub worn. The illustration and decoration has dulled somewhat and both boards show a bit of soil. Inside, there is a tiny split to the front hinge and a yellow piece of paper pasted down on the front endaper, possibly covering a previous owner's name. The bright yellow endpapers are quite clean otherwise. There is offsetting from the paper on the endpaper to the recto side and to the half-title page. The first three calendar pages have a few notations on them. The pages have some light toning and foxing. The illustrations are still quite attractive, and overall the book presents quite well. The first almanack produced by English illustrator Kate Greenaway, and featuring colour engravings of her charming artwork of Victorian children. Printed by Edmund Evans. The cloth-binding and the use of gilt on the boards and edges suggests this was a premium edition. Shipping costs may be reduced due to weight and size of book.
