8vo 241pp. from Preface: ".In the preparation of a book on the financial history of the United Staes, the author had occasion to investigate deeply the early business development of our commercial centers. The important part that Hamilton had in almost every large enterprise of the period indicated his dominance of the financial scence, an indication that was verified by closer research. [. . .] For as a man, he was not noble; as a politician, he was not an eminent success; as a statesman, apart from financial measures, he was not superior. But as a business man, not in all his period was any man to match him, nor in all the years of American history can any figure dwarf him in this, his natural field." #01810. Book VG-: age wear to boards and spine, spine sunned/chipped at top. toning to endpapers and frontispiece, text clean, binding tight.
