Alejandro tardo menos de 15 anos en conquistar gran parte del mundo conocido. En un momento de la antigueedad, el Imperio Persa Aquemenida fue el mayor imperio que el mundo habia visto jamas, pero aparte de su papel en las guerras greco-persas y su colapso a manos de Alejandro Magno, ha pasado casi desapercibido. Cuando se ha estudiado, las fuentes historicas han sido en su mayoria griegas, el mismo pueblo que los persas pretendian conquistar. Huelga decir que sus versiones eran tendenciosas y que las actitudes hacia los persas se vieron exacerbadas por Alejandro Magno y sus biografos, que mantenian un odio feroz hacia Jerjes I de Persia debido a su incendio de Atenas. Los macedonios atacaron muchos de sus proyectos de construccion tras la toma de Persepolis y difundieron una imagen aun mas sombria del rey: la de un gobernante ocioso, indolente, cobarde y corrupto. No fue hasta las excavaciones realizadas en la region durante el siglo XX cuando se pudieron estudiar por primera vez muchas de las reliquias, relieves y tablillas de arcilla que tanta informacion ofrecen sobre la vida persa. Gracias a los restos arqueologicos, los textos antiguos y el trabajo de una nueva generacion de historiadores, hoy es posible hacerse una idea de esta extraordinaria civilizacion y de sus lideres mas famosos. Desde las famosas invasiones persas, rechazadas por los atenienses en Maraton y por los espartanos en las Termopilas y Platea, Grecia y Persia habian estado enfrentadas. Durante los ultimos anos habian disfrutado de una paz incomoda, pero esa paz se rompio cuando, en 334 a.C., Alejandro cruzo el Helesponto hacia Persia. Llevaba consigo un ejercito de 50.000 soldados de infanteria, 6.000 de caballeria y una armada de mas de 100 barcos, una fuerza mixta de macedonios, griegos, tracios e ilirios, todos ellos elegidos por sus puntos fuertes especificos (los tesalios, por ejemplo, eran famosos jinetes). Solo tenia 22 anos. Dario III, rey de Persia en el momento de la invasion de Alejandro, no era un genio tactico, pero si un enemigo inteligente y persistente al que le habia tocado el trono justo antes de la llegada del indomable Alejandro. Su desgracia fue enfrentarse a un enemigo a la vanguardia de la innovacion y la flexibilidad militares, a una fuerza de combate para la que no estaba preparado y a la voluntad inconquistable del ejercito macedonio, alimentada por la devocion a su audaz y carismatico rey. Cuando Alejandro cruzo el Helesponto en el 334 a.C., su primer encuentro con las fuerzas persas tuvo lugar a lo largo del rio Granico. Los comandantes persas se habian reunido en la ciudad de Zeleia junto con Memnon de Rodas, el lider de sus fuerzas mercenarias griegas, y Memnon aconsejo a los persas que no lucharan de frente contra Alejandro. To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel with contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
