Far from offering a historical account of the Arab Image Foundation (AIF), Against photography presents the perspective of an artist, which is fundamental to understanding the practice of the organization. Through Akram Zaatari, founding member IDA that played a key role in its development, the publication reflects on the twenty years of history of the AIF and the multiple conditions of photography, such as document, object, material value, aesthetics and memory. The expansive work of Zaatari on photography and collecting adopts an archaeological perspective: it digs in the past, makes emerge new narratives and resitúa in the contemporaneity.
