The principle of employing spreadsheet software for design calculations established in the first edition is expanded upon by the inclusion of data on air duct design, and fan and duct system performance curves. The principal spreadsheet cell contents are listed and the user is encouraged to adapt these spreadsheets for design applications. The author's book Building Services Engineering Spreadsheets will be a valuable reference for such adaptations. The design of air conditioning systems involves considerable calculation work, which is now mainly carried out using dedicated computer software.
