The important question is not whether an AI agent can take action. It is whether the product can grant only the authority required, detect failure, preserve human accountability, and recover safely.
AI Agents Without the Hype treats agents as controlled product workflows rather than autonomous magic.
Work through the guide to:
• Decide whether the task needs an agent, assistant, automation, or ordinary workflow
• Define the goal, non-goals, boundaries, and autonomy level
• Map the workflow and state transitions
• Inventory tools, permissions, and data access
• Design planning, context, and memory requirements
• Place human approvals and exception paths
• Define guardrails, stop conditions, and failure recovery
• Evaluate behavior before granting authority
• Design logging, auditability, monitoring, and operating ownership
• Scope a controlled agent MVP and pilot
You will finish with a complete Agent Workflow and Safeguards Blueprint covering goals, tools, permissions, approvals, recovery, evaluation, and accountability.
Designed for product leaders, founders, consultants, and technical teams that need a practical framework for bounded, observable, and responsibly governed agent workflows. No coding experience is required.
