Yasmin Choudhury is 51. But is always told she looks younger.
She uses the moniker “YasminIsYasmin” for social media. And helps guide anyone interested in learning how she has maintained her youthful looks, without any plastic surgery - against all the odds. And under extreme hardship.
In her debut book “The Age Of Pure Beauty: Skin, Body & Blind Regime at 51” she shares her story of growing up as a dark skinned daughter to a fair skinned mother. And her own quest to feel beautiful while being deemed “ugly” by many relatives in the cult strict Muslim British Bangladeshi community she grew up in.
This book was written to to raise funds for good causes.
Yasmin is a British businesswoman born and bred in London. She is the award winning “beleaguered” (her words) CEO of Lovedesh®, a not-for-profit new British, ethical, luxury food, fashion and travel brand, on a mission to solve global poverty and to protect people and planet. Created to be sweatshop free and kinder to the environment. A writer, professionally trained actress, producer, designer, campaigner, philanthropist and business leader. She has Bangladeshi heritage and lives in London. With her adult daughter Amber.
Yasmin writes stream of consciousness (as she thinks), and spills and shares some of the handful of favourite beauty products she often uses. Stumbled upon while juggling working life as a single mother, a newly professionally trained actress and selling expensive make up and perfume brands in Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Space NK as a retail beauty expert.
However her personal beauty regime is based on pure simplicity. And mantra.
As a child of the 1970s, Yasmin grew up before the tech revolution of the internet and tech devices In this book she reveals stories of her childhood as well as her some of her skin and beauty regime that is a mixture of her own tried and tested rituals. As well as those inspired by her heritage culture of Bangladesh. And some of the more modern beauty secrets that she relies on, even now, half a century later.
In 2003, after she had been disowned by her family for the first of two times in her life, she became a single mother, and raised her only child all alone. Since her childhood she has suffered such a lot of trials and tribulations, that she has since been left with an invisible disability.
Despite all the stress and horrors of life as a lone businesswoman and a survivor battling to deliver good, “The Age Of Pure” is a series of books that focuses on how to stay looking good and feeling good. And in this first book, it focuses in beauty - and of Yasmin’s battle to finally embrace her dark skin. And the journey of how her inner self, mind and body healing has helped her navigate the difficulties in life. All of which is briefly outlined in this debut book
To learn more about her life and the back story, Yasmin has also written her own coming-of-age story and journey to become a business leader. Of the life she led, as a dark skinned daughter born into a first generation devout Muslim immigrant family in a deeply personal memoir called The Lovedesh 10+ Files, available to watch or listen for free, on her personal YouTube channel, (sponsored by Lovedesh®).
