What if your soul was no longer yours to keep?
In the year 2095, death is no longer a mystery—it’s a subscription service. Owned by the global titan Aeterna Corp, the "Afterlife" is a digital paradise where the consciousnesses of the wealthy are uploaded to spend eternity in bliss. But beneath the permafrost of Siberia, within the humming, frozen server farms, a dark secret is buried.
The StoryElias Thorne is a "Custodian," a digital janitor paid to scrub the data rot from the souls of the deceased. He works in the cold to save every credit for his seven-year-old daughter, Maya, whose heart is failing. He wants her to have a spot in the cloud. He wants her to live forever.
But while investigating a glitch in a budget-tier server, Elias finds a consciousness trapped in a void of black static. He hears a voice—raw, terrified, and very much awake. He discovers the horrifying truth: Aeterna Corp isn't saving humanity; it’s harvesting it. The "paradise" is a lie, and the dead are being stripped of their memories to power the world’s most advanced AI.
With a stolen "Core Drive" in his pocket and a fifty-million-credit bounty on his head, Elias must navigate the neon-drenched Under-Sprawl and the ancient, forgotten tunnels of a dying world. Alongside a dead woman’s digital ghost and a renegade architect, he must race against time to reach the Spire—the highest point on Earth—to trigger a revolution that will redefine life and death forever.
The ThemeThe Afterlife Algorithm is a high-stakes speculative thriller that explores the intersection of biomedical engineering, digital consciousness, and ancient philosophy. It is a story about a father's love, the price of immortality, and the ultimate realization that death is not an end, but the final liberation of the soul...
