Africa's international relations are in a state of transition as the continent enters the last decade of the twentieth century. Tim Shaw is Research Professor and Graduate Program Director in Global Governance and Human Security at the University of Massachusetts Boston, USA and Emeritus Professor at the University of London, UK. He has an extraordinary record, both as a scholar and administrator, most recently as Professor and Director at the Institute of International Relations at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine in Trinidad; Associate Research Fellow at UNU Comparative Regional Integration Studies in Bruges and Senior Fellow at Centre for International Governance Innovation at the University of Waterloo. He has edited the International Political Economy series for Palgrave Macmillan for more than 30 years.
