This book is a useful guide for new and experienced practitioners in the field of affinity chromatography. J. Am. Chem. Soc. The principles are first described, followed by a list of materials, and the method to be used. Probably the most useful section is that entitled Notes', which defines experimental parameters and problems that may occur. for this reason the much larger audience of experienced users may be attracted to this book if only to reduce the inordinate amount of time often spent in optimizing a specific separation. The 19 chapters of the book cover the whole range of available affinity techniques in a most concise manner. Just sufficient theory is offered to provide an understanding of the principles, and includes the most recent applications with two chapters on phage display. It is adequately indexed, concise, readable and virtually free from typographical errors. - Chromatographia the authors describe very different aspects of affinity chromatography; many parts of this book are pleasant reading. For all biochemical libraries it is simply a must. - Chembiochem The title clearly describes the scope - and the reader gets what he/she expects. the authors have compiled information in very helpful tables, which would be difficult to obtain from other sources, for instance, the binding and elution conditions for different lgG subclasses (human/mouse/rat) on Protein A.
