Photographic portrait frontispiece of Joad and illustrations by Peake A little foxing and browning, especially to end-papers, but a very nice copy in chipped and rather browned dust-wrapper, stain to lower panel. With copies of the English edition, all but one in chipped dust-wrappers, comprising two copies of the Second Impression, Third, Fourth and Fifth Impressions, 1943-1944, and two copies of the Services Edition, published for the British Publishers Guild by Faber & Faber, wrappers, one with "Supplied for the Public Service" stamp on upper wrapper. The boards have damp staining to top and bottom of the spine with this also affecting two inch triangular areas at the top and bottom corners of the front and rear panels next to the spine. Some discolouration to the boards generally. Tape marks to top and bottom corners of both the front and rear free endpapers. Page 69 is heavily creased with two small nicks in the edge. Pages browned. The jacket has a number of tears to the spine with loss at the top and bottom and two holes near the centre. Chipping to the corners with some loss.
