Item description from seller

HERGÉ. The Adventures of Tintin: Red Rackham’s Treasure. London: Methuen & Co. Ltd, 1965. First reprint of the UK edition. Quarto. Illustrated throughout in colour. Original pictorial boards, now housed in an easily removable clear acetate archival wrapper. The concluding volume to the celebrated two-part treasure-hunt begun in The Secret of the Unicorn, and an important title in the Tintin series for introducing Professor Calculus, whose shark-shaped submarine provides the memorable front-board image. Translated by Leslie Lonsdale-Cooper and Michael Turner. The copyright page records “First published in Great Britain in 1959” and “Reprinted 1965”, confirming this as the first UK reprint; printed by Établissements Casterman, Tournai, Belgium. The rear board retains the early Methuen series advertisement and original UK price of 9s 6d net. Spine slightly faded; boards with some marks, scuffs, rubbing and light creasing; binding tight and firm but with a one-inch split at the base of the spine; pages generally nice and clean with minor marks and the usual toning to the text block. A good, presentable early Methuen copy.…
