Adventures of the Rainbow Scarecrows: The Storm Tom & Patsy Allen Peter Haddock Limited, Bridlington, England ISBN: 0-7105-0719-4 (0710507194) Hardcover, circa 1990s (likely 1992 edition based on style and printing) Condition: Like New A charming and beautifully illustrated children's picture book from the beloved Adventures of the Rainbow Scarecrows series. This is the hardback edition of The Storm, featuring vibrant, full-color watercolor-style illustrations on every page, a glossy pictorial cover with blue borders, and the iconic rainbow/umbrella motif. Story summary (no spoilers): Owl, the wise old bird guardian of Acorn Woods and the surrounding countryside, uses rainbow magic to bring six colorful scarecrows to life—Smiff, Dolly, Bertie, Poppy, Norah, and Zizz. Together, they protect the local wildlife and village from a fierce, destructive storm. The tale emphasizes themes of friendship, teamwork, preparation, bravery, and caring for nature and animals. Perfect for bedtime reading or young independent readers (ages 4–8). Physical details: Small square-format hardback (~32 pages). Bright blue spine and covers with full-color illustrations. Endpapers and internal pages feature detailed, whimsical artwork of the English countryside, village map (including Poppy’s Field, Bertie’s Field, Smiff’s Field, etc.), animal characters, and the scarecrows in action. Clean, crisp white pages with large, easy-to-read text. No writing, inscriptions, stickers, or library marks. Binding tight and square; covers bright with no fading, rubbing, or edge wear. Overall Like New / Fine condition – appears unread or very gently handled. A pristine copy ideal for collectors or gifting. Authors & Illustrator: Tom & Patsy Allen created this enchanting series collaboratively. Patsy Allen, a talented artist, author, and sculptor, studied Art and Design in Manchester. After a brief career in advertising, she became a freelance illustrator and writer, producing the vivid, heartwarming illustrations that define the books. Tom Allen contributed to the storytelling and text. The couple’s Rainbow Scarecrows series has sold over 640,000 copies worldwide, charming generations of children with its magical yet grounded tales of countryside life, wildlife, and adventure. Their work is noted for its gentle moral messages, detailed pastoral scenes, and lovable characters brought to life by "a touch of rainbow magic." This specific title matches the publisher’s original Peter Haddock Limited printing, complete with the back-cover series list, barcode, and delightful internal map double-page spread. A wonderful example of 1990s British children’s literature, evoking nostalgia for classic picture books. Excellent for fans of Beatrix Potter-style countryside tales, or as a companion to other series titles like Rainbow Treasure, Captain Scruffy, or Zizz Cleans Up.…
