This 5.0 x 7.125 inch, 234 page hardcover book is the 1908 edition by Harper and Brothers, apparently the first printing of this title. The book is in at least good condition with wear to the burnt-orange cloth covers, especially the corners and spine extremities, although the corners are still firm and are just beginning to wear through. There is some smudging and spotting to the cover but the attractive front panel illustration in yellow, blue, black, and brown is still vivid as well as the lettering on both the front and spine. The interior shows very good condition with a previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown, and a few spots on some of the pages, though probably not foxing. Beyond that the text pages are in very good condition. The books contents feature thirteen short stories by various authors that were written independently but were collected here to provide a fascinating and entertaining look-back at the time when America's native peoples were strong and prominent across the landscape. The book features eight black-and-white illustrations with the frontispiece protected by a tissue guard. 234 pages. Seller Inventory # 1505-627
