The Great Lakes Steelhead Fishery is one of the best in the world, providing year-round opportunities to catch steelhead, salmon, and brown trout on a fly. Advanced Fly Fishing for Great Lakes Steelhead is the most up-to-date book on strategy and technique, and as well as providing a foundation for all types of fly anglers, covers more advanced concepts such as how to effectively use switch and two-handed rods, swinging flies, and new fly patterns by some of the region’s top tiers. In addition, Kustich covers strategy, which is perhaps the most important chapter of all, sharing his thoughts—from over thirty years of Great Lakes steelheading—on timing the run, avoiding fishing pressure, selecting a river, reading the water, developing a plan, and much more. A destinations section rounds out the book with a look at need-to-know information for top steelhead spots in Ontario, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

Rick Kustich is author of River Journal: Salmon River, Reflections on the Water, Fly Fishing the Great Lakes Tributaries, and Fly Fishing for Great Lakes Steelhead, which he co-authored with his brother Jerry. Rick's writing and photography have appeared in numerous national and regional publications. He is also a fly tier and seminar speaker and has produced a fly-tying DVD, Tube Flies for Steelhead. For ten years Rick owned a fly shop in western New York.
