Add to basketThis new book, Advanced Drug Delivery Strategies via Microbial Cargos and Their Derivatives, dives into the fascinating field of microbial entities serving as carriers for therapeutic payloads, revealing a wide range of options for revolutionizing drug delivery.
In this volume, experts from around the world provide a comprehensive overview of the many important aspects of microbial drug delivery systems as well as insights on strategies for the development of innovative microbial cargos using the beneficial properties of microorganisms and their derivatives. The chapters present a wide variety of carrier systems obtained using microorganisms or their derivatives. It explores how advanced carrier models like synthetic microbes are being developed as drug delivery systems. Pre-clinical and clinical studies as well as regulatory perspectives are also emphasized in the book, which will aid in the development of more successful drug delivery carriers, which will also result in a more cost-effective process overall.
The volume first provides an introduction to advanced drug delivery systems using microbial cargo and derivatives and then delves into specifics, such as bacterial cellulose-based drug delivery systems, biotic components for oral drug delivery and oral vaccination, virus-based drug delivery systems, synthetic microbes as drug delivery systems, the safety and regulatory aspects of these drug delivery systems, and more.
This volume provides a plethora of information for researchers to investigate the intricacies of microbial drug delivery systems, such as varied cargo types and individual variations. This book will be an invaluable resource for students, giving them a concise grasp of fundamental concepts and most recent developments in these rapidly expanding rules and regulations.
Vivek P. Chavda, MPharm, is an Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) in the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology at the L. M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Before joining academia, he served in the biologics industry for almost eight years in research and development with two successful regulatory filings at Lupin Biotech (Pune) and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory (Hyderabad). He has published more than 250 national and international publications, 18 book chapters, 10 book chapters, four published books, one published textbook, and numerous newsletter articles. He also has four patents in progress. He is an editorial board member for various Scopus-indexed journals from Elsevier, Frontiers, and Taylor and Francis. He is listed among the world’s top 2 % scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier. His research interests include development of biologics process and formulations, medical device development, nano-diagnostics and non-carrier formulations, long-acting parenteral formulations, and nano-vaccines. He holds BPharm and MPharm degrees (gold medalist) from Gujarat Technological University, India.
Suneetha Vuppu, PhD, is currently working as a Professor of Biotechnology at the University Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India, one of the premier institutions of India.
