First thus. Revised and expanded edition. Oblong 4to. Cloth binding, 144 pp. Over eight years, Douglas Curran traveled across North America and recorded the ideas and experiences of individuals whose obsession with outer space inspired them to create elaborate homemade spaceships and even more elaborate belief systems. He illustrates his nonjudgmental account with photographs of saucer-shaped houses, backyard rocketships, and images from UFO witnesses and pop culture. In the words of Tom Wolfe, "This book is the culmination of a quest that, by terrestrial standards, is as extraordinary as that of the people he brings to life." First published in 1985, this book has established itself as a classic work within the New Age/UFO communities and also with sociologists, psychologists, and artists. This expanded edition includes new material on the Roswell incident of 1947 and the Raelian movement. New in new dust jacket.
