Self wraps 15x24cm, printed 7/36, 8pp. Good, dusted with previous owner's name to the front (MR Stapley) and reference number to the back, and rusted staple marks to spine fold. This draft document was issued as a consequence of the Government of India Act (1935), which detached the Aden Settlement from India and established it as a Crown Colony administered by the British Government from 1 April 1937. While "not ordinarily the practice", it was deemed "proper in this case" to submit it alongside the draft Aden Order (1936), which made provision for the Government of Aden. The status of Lieutenant Colonel Sir Bernard Rawdon Reilly, who had served as Chief Commissioner of Aden since 1932, accordingly changed to that of Governor and Commander-in-Chief in 1937, a post he held until 1940. These new instructions empower him to require any person in the colonial service to take the Oath of Allegiance, discusses procedures for temporary takeover by his Deputy including in the event of an emergency, composition and functions of the Executive Council and its interactions with the Governor, the Governor's role and limitations in enacting laws, procedures for offenders condemned to death, the Governor's responsibility in upholding freedom of worship, etc. Seller Inventory # 5223
