Addresses on the Second Epistle to the Corinthians
Discover the Heart of the Apostle Paul in His Most Personal and Moving Epistle
If First Corinthians was a letter of sharp rebuke and correction, Second Corinthians is a beautiful, raw window into the very soul of the Apostle Paul. In this exceptional volume of expository lectures, Dr. Henry Allen "Harry" Ironside (1876–1951) walks readers verse-by-verse through this deeply emotional letter, delivering profound spiritual insights with the signature simplicity, pastoral warmth, and unyielding biblical fidelity that made him one of the 20th century's most beloved Bible teachers.
Originally delivered as a series of rich, conversational addresses at Moody Church, this commentary cuts through dense academic language to reveal the heartbeat of Christian ministry. Ironside unpacks how Paul defended his apostolic authority, endured staggering personal suffering, and poured out his life for a fragile, easily misguided flock.
Inside this classic expository commentary, you will explore:
Comfort in the Midst of Suffering: Gain deep biblical perspective on why God allows his servants to experience intense trials, and how the "God of all comfort" uses our afflictions to comfort others.
The Glory of the New Covenant: Revisit Ironside’s masterful analysis of the contrast between the lethal letter of the Law and the life-giving liberty of the Spirit under the New Covenant.
The Ministry of Reconciliation: Explore the believer’s high calling as an ambassador for Christ, entrusted with the definitive message of reconciliation to a broken, dying world.
Strength Made Perfect in Weakness: Sit with Paul in his vulnerability as he boasts in his infirmities, wrestles with his "thorn in the flesh," and discovers the overwhelming sufficiency of divine grace.
