Add to basketThe field of additive manufacturing is growing dynamically, with continued interest from manufacturing and other sectors. Conceptually, additive manufacturing is a method to build parts without using any part-specific tooling or dies from a computer-aided design file. This new edition of Additive Manufacturing highlights the applications in aerospace industries, biomedical devices, and construction industries, with new material on additive manufacturing at the nano- and microscale, as well as questions and additional reading materials.
Key features:
This book is intended for students and researchers in the field of mechanical, manufacturing, materials, and industrial engineering.
Amit Bandyopadhyay is a Professor in the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, affiliate faculty of the Elson Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University (WSU). He has worked/working with 22 Ph.D. and 30 MS graduate students, 6 post-doctoral research associates / visiting faculty members, and over 50 undergraduate students at WSU. He has written over 350 technical articles, edited 11 books and inventors of 21 issued patents, and member of the editorial boards of several journals, including the Journal of Materials Research, Additive Manufacturing, Applied Surface Science, Advances in Materials Science and Engineering, and International Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology. His research expertise focuses on additive manufacturing / 3D Printing, emphasizing bone implants, and multi-materials structures. He received the CAREER award from the National Science Foundation, the Young Investigator Award from the Office of Naval Research, and the Anjan Bose Researcher award, and the Distinguished Faculty Address (DFA) award from the WSU. He is a Fellow of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), American Ceramic Society, American Society for Materials (ASM), American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and an elected member at the Washington State Academy of Science (WSAS). As of July 2021, his work has been cited over 27000 times, and the current “h” index is 86 (based on Google Scholar).
Susmita Bose is a Professor at the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, affiliate faculty of the Department of Chemistry and Elson Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University. Prof. Bose received the CAREER award and the prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for Scientist and Engineers (PECASE) from the National Science Foundation. Prof. Bose advised over 45 graduate students for their MS and PhD, and over 40 undergraduate students in research, published over 290 technical articles including over 240 journal articles, 23 book chapters, 9 edited books, and inventor of 12 issued patents. Her research papers have been cited over 25,000 times, “h” index 81 (Google scholar). She was invited as “Kavli fellow” by the National Academy of Sciences, received the PACE and Fulrath Awards from the American Ceramic Society. In 2015, Prof. Bose was named as Life Science Innovation Northwest Women to Watch Honoree, by the Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association. In 2016, she received the International Society for Ceramics in Medicine research excellence award. She is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), National Academy of Inventors (NAI), Materials Research Society (MRS), ASM International, American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
