Author Terrell Patterson bares all—his past and his present, his strengths and his flaws—in this candid and refreshing debut, Addicted to Lies. Part memoir, part life guide, Patterson takes us through the events of his tumultuous childhood spent in inner city Baltimore with a mother who struggled with addiction, his capricious teenage years in which he searched for love and loyalty while battling abandonment issues, and his adulthood that hosted some of the most destructive and most redemptive moments in his life. His story is one that tackles topics that many of us find ourselves in conflict with: Love, lust, infidelity, sex, and destructive behaviors that both protect and damage us.
In addition to receiving his life story, we will also gain new perspectives our lives as Patterson guides us through self-examinations that reveal how easily we deceive ourselves into making wrong decisions for ourselves. Such self-lies are not always obvious, but we can learn to oppose them when we trust in the Lord, our gut instincts, and our God-given senses. In the end, what we receive are the wise and weighty words of a man who earned his maturity.
