Paperback. Dr. Schofield has over 30 years of experience in diagnosing and treating ADD. He has helped thousands of children and parents to find a path to a successful future. ADD Rescue offers easy to read, step by step advice for parents. The book encourages parents to help their child to take a greater role in the self-management of their ADD. ADD Rescue brings your child into the entire diagnostic and treatment process. Your child will have a more successful outcome by taking ownership and responsibility for managing their ADD. ADD Rescue explores a wide range of topics. The chapters begin with getting an accurate diagnosis, which isn't as easy as it sounds. The book continues with a discussion about the benefits and limitations of medication. It then offers ways to help your child to identify their educational problems and needs and ways to help them advocate for themselves. Practical strategies are presented to help your child to manage emotions such as anxiety and outbursts as well as to improve behavioral problems. Other topics include: strategies to improve social and relationship skills, and the appropriate use of humor to help your child be less discouraged with minor setbacks. There is a chapter to help parents better manage their own frustrations. Finally, there is a discussion on preparing ADD adolescents for college and the work world. ADD Rescue is written in a relaxed and conversational manner. There are many interjections by "the reader," asking for further clarification of points and critiquing the suggestions offered. This allows the reader to be more actively involved in the reading. This informal and interactive style helps the book feel more like a consultation in your home. Reading ADD rescue is like inviting Dr. Schofield to make a house call to your home. This item is printed on demand.
