Like many young women, Aja Pershing had a lot of ideas about what she might become when she grew up. She could tell you, however, that “second-generation super-villain” was nowhere on her list.

Yet forces beyond her control are pushing her to take up the mantle of the deadly mercenary Manticore — or as Aja knows her, Mom.

Lia Pershing spent years grooming her daughter to one day inherit the Manticore battlesuit, and following in her mother’s bloody footsteps might be the only way Aja can survive the trials lying ahead.

That sets Aja on a collision course with Grace Harker, the latest in a long line of women to stalk the night as the Silhouette, self-appointed guardian of New Kingdom. Her city is teetering on the edge of destruction, and she’s not about to let anyone — not even Manticore — finish the job.

But Aja might be the least of Grace’s problems. Former ShadoWorks soldiers are gathering in New Kingdom, heeding the call to arms from a mysterious mastermind with sinister intent, and Grace is the only one standing in their way.

Or is she?
