About the Author

Prof. Stavros Brekoulakis is a Professor of International Arbitration at Queen Mary University of London; Brekoulakis also practises as an arbitrator at a leading commercial Chambers 3 Verulam Buildings (Gray’s Inn) having been appointed as arbitrator in more than 80 commercial and investment arbitrations. Stavros is widely recognized as a leading authority in the field of international law and arbitration and has been invited to give the prestigious Summer Course on Private International Law at the Hague Academy of International Law in 2026. He is the author of eight monographs, books and edited volumes and more than 30 articles in leading peer-reviewed law journals. Stavros has led important policy projects and advised governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental organizations, Co-Chair of the International Council of Commercial Arbitration Task Force on Third Party Funding, he co-authored the leading report on Third Party Funding in International Arbitration which has informed the regulatory policy of several international arbitration institutions and national legislation, including as a member of the London Bar Reform Committee, a member of the Steering Committee of the UNCITRAL Academic Forum on Investor-State Dispute Settlement, a member of the Investment Expert Trade Advisory Group of the UK Department for International Trade. He holding several public positions including being a member of the Governing body of the International Council of Commercial Arbitration, Court of the LCIA Arbitration and ICC Commission on Arbitration. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Management; the General Editor of the Journal of International Dispute Settlement; the Co-editor of Kluwer’s International Arbitration Law Library Series; a member of the Editorial Board of the Arbitration International; the International Chamber of Commerce Bulletin on International Arbitration; and the Arab Yearbook of Public & Private International Law. Dr Romesh Weeramantry is Special Counsel at Clifford Chance, specializing in investment treaty disputes and international commercial arbitrations. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne Law School and a Global Fellow at the Centre for International Law (CIL), National University of Singapore (NUS). While at Clifford Chance, he was also the Head of International Dispute Resolution team at CIL (2018-2022) and a full Adjunct Professor at NUS Faculty of Law. Prior to that he was an Associate Professor of Law at the City University of Hong Kong, an Associate Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong, a Legal Officer at the United Nations Compensation Commission (Geneva) and a Legal Advisor to the President of the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal (The Hague). He is the author of two books, over 35 articles and is the general editor of three major arbitration publications. Lilit Nagapetyan ACA CFE is a dispute resolution lawyer and a doctoral student of prof. Julian Lew KC and prof. Stavros Brekoulakis. In her practice she focuses on international commercial arbitration, as well as complex cross-border disputes and enforcement proceedings. She is also a Teaching Fellow at Queen Mary University of London (School of International Arbitration) where she pursues her PhD. She has previously practised in London as a forensic accountant with a top-10 accounting firm where she has been involved in a wide range of litigation and arbitration disputes, as well as EC and CMA Monitoring Trustee mandates.

Effects of cancellation

We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.

Exceptions to the right of cancellation

The right of cancellation does not apply to:

the delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
